It’s funny how weekends can turn into a real adventure, isn’t it? I’ll tell you about one.
He was at home and decided to go for a walk in the nearby park. He got ready and then set off, feeling optimistic that he’d be able to clear his mind of all the unpleasant things.
The trees were shyly showing off their spring blossoms, their buds glistening in the sunlight. The grass was turning green again, creating a living carpet of green. The sky was clear, a vibrant blue. He couldn’t help but smile at nature, which was offering him such beauty.
She sat down on a bench, watching a flock of birds—perhaps swallows—flying and chirping happily at the arrival of spring.
A group of fast-moving clouds blocked out the sunlight as the wind picked up, chasing the birds out of the park. It seemed strange to him, but perhaps a spring shower was just on its way.
Still, there was a faint scent—the fragrance of spring flowers: snowdrops, tulips, and perhaps hyacinths. He looked around but saw nothing. Had it been just an illusion? No, it wasn’t. He caught the scent again, close by. He stood up and saw the white ruffles of her long dress.
He followed her footsteps, but this game of “tag” seemed endless. He stopped, and so did she. They look at each other. Her eyes are green; his are blue. She disappears as if by magic, and the sky clears up again, everything returning to normal—except for her scent.
He could sense her as if she had been standing right beside him the whole time. The image of her and her alluring scent will stay with him forever.
