Until we meet again

A hot early summer day. The train was going through a beautiful sunflower field, while the sun was up there in the sky, shining brightly. The blue sky was accompanied by playful silky white clouds.
She waited impatiently for the train to stop at the station where everyone in the village knew her. Nothing else interested her except getting off at the station where she had spent her childhood.
In fact, there was something else. There was someone else. It was him. Him who was always at the station when she came and went. Always with a smile on his lips and the rose he’d gladly give her.
The train stopped at its destination. She got off and they looked around. He, he was in his usual place, under the acacia that had kept them company, that had witnessed their little encounters at midnight. Joy and the thornless white rose were not missing, but the rose was red this time.
Her footsteps sent her straight to him, there in their secret place, sheltered from rain and wind. He handed her the rose as the unforgettable smile appeared on her face without any hesitation
The wind pushed the branches of the acacia tree forming a curtain of green leaves in front of them, taking care to shield them from the eyes of the world.

-THE END-
