Everfrost, a bestfriend

Hello everybody, I’m Everfrost. Not the best name but I’m special because my name evokes the enduring and timeless nature of frost and snow. „Ever” signifies eternity, while „frost” represents the winter essence. Together, „Everfrost” embodies the enduring spirit of winter and the timeless beauty of snow.

Not really everyone knows me because I lived and have been living for some good weeks in a very big mansion’s backyard. The owner’s name was Laurencio and he’s got a little human and he called her Ambra. They were very cute together and they had a very close relationship, but the two of them didn’t build me. Ambra and a very generous, beautiful and cute lady did. I heard the little human calling her Lexi, interesting. I love Lexi and Ambra with all my heart because they not only gave me life. They were my best friends and spend every day outside playing with me.

One day, the air was completely different and the atmosphere around the house was cold, I could describe it better as foggy, dark and obnoxious. The mansion’s back door opened and Laurencio walked out of his house then sat down beside me as he chuckled “I’m sure you’re asking yourself why I’m here.” His voice got quieter with each word he got out of his mouth. I wanted to give him a response, but a snowman can’t speak the human’s language so I just listened to him. His hand landed on my snowy shoulder “I had a fight with Alexis, Ambra’s nanny, but it wasn’t any fight… I really hurt her and I don’t understand how I could do that when I love her with all my heart.” He sniffled and I wanted to give him an understanding, warm hug, but again, I am, just a snowman. I can’t move unfortunately. Laurencio hugged me instead and I felt a warmth inside me as my ears heard his voice: “Everfrost, I want Alexis to be happy and not just happy. Happy by my side and Ambra will be the happiest about this.” And surprisingly, the back door opened and Lexi or Alexis, I didn’t really know how to call her back then, but my best friend walked out in the cold weather smiling as the owner of the house sat up straightening his clothes stuttering “Uh-uhm, Alexis… It’s good to see you.” She didn’t say anything and walked to him as their bodies ran a symphony of moves and hugs. I can’t tell you more because they walked back in the house and I couldn’t follow them.

Days passed and the sun was shining more and more on the light blue sky as half of my left leg melted, that’s not good… It means that I could possibly disappear in a few days… But first I was interrupted by the little human of the house walking out in quarter snow and the rest of it well, water. Ambra looks at me with a gasp and a very sad look as she screamed out “Uncle Laurio! Everfrost is melting! I don’t want him to die!” She started sobbing and she wasn’t wrong. I was melting and maybe die in a few days, but my happiness was raising as I knew that the little human and not only were caring about me a lot.
After Ambra went back in, I started to think about me, what will I do if I totally melt? Will I just vanish away? I didn’t want that to happen, but there’s a chance…

Anyways, the little human didn’t come back so that meant something… Maybe Laurencio didn’t want me to live anymore… Did he actually hate me when I helped him confess his feelings to his loved one? I felt the ground beside my right cheek meaning that my legs were gone and I saw that Alexis and little crying human were watching me from the inside of the house. I wanted to greet them one last time before the sun would’ve killed me, but I was just a snowman…
A few hours later, I took Ambra out and we both looked at what was Everfrost, our bestfriend “Lexi, is Everfrost in a better place now?” The little girl asked with a cracked voice. I nodded and held in my hands the carrot, coal pieces and a hat that represented the snowman then looked at Ambra “He is in the Heaven of the snowmen, Ambra. Look up.” I whispered and the two of us lift our heads eyeing the sky “He is smiling and waving at you from up there, dear. You should wave back at Everfrost.” I said to Ambra as she waved up “I hope you’re happy up there, Everfrost.” She said then we went back in to put what remained from Everfrost in a picture frame to keep him forever, as Laurencio suggested.

-THE END-
